Nashville has experienced two mass school shootings in less than five years. Sadly, there has been an increase in school shootings, according to U.S. News and World Reports data, since 2018. In fact, as of 2020, a student has a greater chance of being killed at school than in a car accident. Let that sink in! Last week, ten miles from my home, a high school that I visited frequently when I worked in the district office experienced a mass shooting. Two students died. This week, counselors and experts in mass shootings are descending on Nashville to offer aid to the district, the school, and especially the students and the families of those two students. It is indeed a tragedy! Some say it is a mental health challenge, others argue gun control, yet others say it is the degradation of the family in America. Schools may say it is the lack of funding to keep students and schools safe. What do you say? Visit our LinkedIn group and share your thoughts today.
